What Matters?
This question was asked of the students enrolled in the OES 20 program prior to starting the course, whereby they will be asked to work on a watershed project that improves the health of their community.
At first the students shared this as a group withone another, followed by making additions or changes as they reflected on their statements and those of their classmates.

What matters to me is that not enough areas have heralthy food and water, but we have enough garbage food places, everywhere. Angela

What matters to me isn't showing people HOW to eat healthy or HOW to makeour communities healthy. When I think about what matters, I remember the people without fresh clean water and how we try to give them fresh waterwells. But really we could find a way to turn the dirty water they have into clean drinkable water. Max

What matters to me is that there are not enough healthy places to grow heralthy food. We have enough means and resources to be able to make more healthy places, however we are not using them to our full abilities. There are also not enough places to buy good healthy food. Carly

There are not enough places that sell locally grown organic food. Our large grocery stores should all be selling ONLY organic healthy food.

ReplyDeleteWhat matters to me is that people know what they are eating. I think that this important because many people don't know that they're not eating right, even if they think they are. I think its important to raise awareness to this problem so that people can start making healthier choices. Brooklyn

What matters to me is that no one knows about any of this. They don't know what they are really eating, and they don't know that the world needs to be healthier for more places growing the healthy food, making healthier food. Meghan
Each student must now make a concept map with their statement in the middle, including posible projects, organizations, events, educational materials that relate to your statement. Due Monday Oct 20, 2014.
